Everything you should always take with you
Dressings: disinfectant, plasters, dressing materials
Instruments: tweezers, small scissors, pocket knife, safety pins
Sun protection products: pay attention to the sun protection factor (for the tropics: 15–25) and water resistance
Mosquito repellents: in accordance with the recommendations of the Tropical Institute: Anti Brumm forte, ExoPic 12 forte, Autan; for children: apply ExoPic 8 Spray to uncovered areas of skin Medicines (always carry them in your hand luggage):
- Do not forget to take your medicines with you (in sufficient quantities)
- Malaria tablets, if prescribed by a doctor
- Tablets for pain and fever: e.g. Panadol, Dafalgan (available without a prescription)
- Tablets for severe diarrhoea: e.g. Imodium or Loperamid (available without a prescription)
- Remedies for colds: lozenges, nasal drops and, if necessary, a cough medicine
- If necessary, tablets for travel sickness, e.g. Itinerol or Trawell chewing gum (available without a prescription)
Depending on the destination, also take
Insecticide: for treating rooms and textiles, e.g. Tyrax, Nobite
Water disinfection: disinfectant tablets (e.g. Micropur forte), ceramic filter (e.g. Katadyn), and, if necessary, an immersion heater
